Whale watching: End of RIB season 2017

That’s it! A very great RIB whale watching season has come to an end. It was the second whole season of Húsavík Adventures in business (we did a two month “miniseason” in 2015) and it went pretty much as well as it could have. We were very lucky with our brilliant crew who made so many people happy as our perfect score at TripAdvisor can confirm.

The tours in whale sightings perspective were very succesful. The number of whales began to grow in Skjálfandi Bay from the beginning of May. Like in the recent years, the humpback whale was the most spotted whale, followed by the minke whale. The white beaked dolphins were spotted every once in a while as well as the harbor porpois. The blue whale had its course in the bay as usual in the early season.

The weather was not as good as in 2016. Northern winds were more regular this year which meant worse weather both at sea and in land. Luckily there weren’t that many windy days so most often this didn’t have to much affect on the quality of the tours. The wind is always more important factor than temperature and humidity 😉

We thank everyone who joined our tours this season and especially those who reviewed us with kind words at TripAdvisor. We are looking forward to 2018 season.

The Buggys are going strong and will be available as a 12 month acitvity. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at whales@husavikadventures.is for some requests of any kind.
